My Name is Adeoye Omoniyi. A medical practitioner and drama minister.

Can we know your educational background and ministerial studies?
I had my primary school education at Saint Finbar’s Primary School Akure. My secondary at Independence Grammar School Ondo and tertiary education at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. Well I was born into a Christian home, and as I was growing up, I joined the choir, later I joined the drama. In the university, I joined the drama group of my fellowship in 2000. I later had encouragement to Calvary Drama Ministry under the leadership of Dr Moses Korede Are. Who from time to time encouraged me and brought me up in acting and also introduced me into movie making technicalities.

I am a member of Calvary Drama ministry Int’l Ogbomoso and the principal of Calvary Technical School.

When did you join/begin drama ministry?
I joined Calvary in 2001.

What do you think it takes to be a drama minister?
It take a heart with vision for evangelism and commitment unto God’s service through drama.

Can you tell us your experience so far?
So far, so good, I thank God for where we started and where we are. Honestly, can’t count but to mention few good ones. I remember that most time when I go on location is when God bless me more. The testimonies of drama that I participate in or direct are always great experience for me.

Have you had unforgettable moments in drama ministry?
When I acted Rufus in Ogbona Junalo. I was tied to a drum, the banger the we used to simulate gun shot almost tear my tommy and i sustained an injury though I pretended as if it didn’t hurt me much but I can’t forget. When plenty of maggots was pored on my body with my hands n legs tied, I can’t forget.

Can you recall the numbers of work you have done so far (acting, producing, directing, shooting and other applicable ones )?
Stopped counting when it was over hundred about 5yrs ago. But I remember these few tittles:
Oja aye, Egbo emi, Agbara ajinde, Ogbona junalo, Tani Ife Olorun, Ilu agidigbo, A hole in my heart, Omo mi owon, Final contest, Scarlet, Omo tank, Eje ilaja, Aroko,Ajo, Broken bridge, Ara ile keji, Open Alter and so on.

Your most challenging production and why?
As a cast, acting the lead in Ogbona junalo produced by Calvary was challenging for:

  1. That’s the 1st time I will b acting a major role
  2. the concept of gun shot and Margot

As a director, each production is always challenging to me. None was easy to come by.

Can you work in a secular film production and why?
No because Christian drama is my ministry. Those in secular are not into any ministry whatsoever. They are into business I’m into ministry using drama to pull down the kingdom of darkness and upholding the kingdom of God through drama which I can’t find in the secular world.

How have you been committed to drama ministry knowing fully well that you are a medical practitioner?
Grace is the answer

How do you balance the ministry and family, ministry and career, ministry and your walk with God?
We are praying for grace to fulfill purpose in all those areas of life.

What should be expected from you soon?
Film at post production stage:

  • Dark moment by Sis AyoAde.
  • Peril of compromise by Pastor Odesola and Redeemers tv.
  • Boomerang by Bro Seun.

Planning to shoot

  • The Crucified for Ibadan Area Ancedram.
  • Patrick’s Syndrome for Dr Obembe.

What should upcoming drama ministers expect from drama ministry?

  • First of all they should be focused on their vision.
  • Be ready to sacrifice for God in their calling.
  • They should not pursue money.
  • They should not pursue fame.
  • They should expect fortune from drama but they will need to play their role.

If you work for God, God will work for you.

Who is your role model/mentor in the ministry?
My mentor is Dr Moses Korede Are.
My Role model is Evangelist Mike Bamiloye.

Is there anything you wish to correct about drama ministry as a whole?
